Waiting 6 days (or longer) for apple account recovery
This is so annoying! I'm waiting 6 days (or longer) for my apple account recovery process to continue.
How I got here.
I'm not a regular apple user. But, I have a 6 y.o. Macbook Pro, which my kids mostly use. And I occasionally like to give it a good tidy up, by erasing/recovering it.
I went straight to Cmd-R recovery. Of course, it asked me for an apple ID associated with it. I didn't have the password for it right now, but I do have access to the email/phone-number for recovery later, so I just went and hit the erase option instead.
Following that, it took an age to download an Internet recovery image after I let it connect to my WiFi. But then, it needed the exact apple ID to go ahead.
Now, I had to go through the forget password flow for the account, which for some reason needs an apple device. Recovering just through the email/phone-number wasn't possible.
So, in the end - I have to wait 6 days (or longer) for apple to process the request.
I had completely rendered my Mac unusable. Great reminder of why I don't like them.
